hell yea! firmware updating a Z710i to a W710i.. SUCCESS!!
well.. i've always been just one step behind the elite modders.. however, i think i got a step on them.. just by being ballsy! hehe..
just got a new Z710i about a week ago.. was eyeing the W710i but it costed about $100+ more and had the media player i wanted but pedometer i didn't..
after comparing these phones for a while.. it seemed as though Sony just pulled another K750 / W800 type of device.. near exact hardware specs (no pedometer in the z710i hardware-wise, pedometer not working. see more!) just different housings and target genres...
so.. i had a wotanserver credit (due to me having to fix my EROM and update it via wotanserver..) and decided i'd do it.. try flashing my Z710i to a W710i..
run through the wotanclient, choose W710i as my phone, USA as country, etc.. i would assume wotanserver would error on me if it wasn't safe, so i kept going.. noticed steps completing.. writing gdfs.. and then finalizing phone/customizing..
then bam! finished..
powered off, put in sim, powered on.. and look what i see..
so there you go you crazy SE modders/hackers.. gotcha! my first Z710i to W710i flash..
just use good ole wotanserver (http://wotanserver.com) and choose the W710i firmwares and bam! enjoy! pedometer/fitness options do not work since it seems that the Z710i lacks the hardware to support it.. but who knows.. maybe a place will get a bunch of extras and we can add it on ourselves.. :)

btw, here's a great link for tmobile users needing to resetup their phone's wap/mms/etc.. :) since i had to do it myself, just used this baby..

Nice one! I was thinking the exact same thing, my question though is if you get the TrackID and Facewarp program with the upgrade? and what will happen if you connect it to SE update later on, will it think your mobile is w710 and do a update for that one, or what? and is it possible to make your own flashmenues?
